Tooth extractions are usually one of our last choices for treatment. At Springs Family Dental, we like to keep your teeth as healthy and as strong as we can, even if that means performing root canals or other dental procedures to strengthen or stabilize your teeth.
However, there are some situations where a dental extraction is necessary. Below we’ve listed a couple of situations that might require a dental extraction.
If your wisdom teeth are overcrowded or infected, Dr. Michael Terveen, our experienced dentist, may recommend a wisdom teeth (tooth) extraction. Millions of Americans have wisdom teeth extracted every year, so it’s a fairly common procedure.
Some patients may choose to have a dental extraction over a root canal or other dental procedure that is meant to save his or her tooth. This could be due to budget issues or simply because the patient doesn’t wish to have a root canal. Dr. Terveen wants every patient to enjoy good oral health, so if a patient is hesitant about a particular procedure, we are happy to discuss possible alternatives.
If a tooth has reached a point where it cannot be repaired or saved by our dentist, we may have no other option besides tooth extraction.
If you believe you are in need of a tooth extraction, contact Springs Family Dental to schedule a consultation with our dentist. We are here to help you enjoy great oral health, and if that means extracting a tooth, we are here to help you.
